The Glock 19’s evolution from Gen 3 to Gen 5 showcases Glock’s commitment to improving ergonomics, performance, and user customization. Gen 3 introduced finger grooves and an accessory rail, while Gen 4 added a dual-recoil spring, a modular backstrap system, and a larger reversible mag release. Gen 5 then removed the finger grooves, brought in a marksman barrel for enhanced accuracy, and features an ambidextrous slide stop.
To replace your existing Glock 19 slide with a custom aftermarket part, first, ensure that the gun is unloaded. Then, remove the magazine, pull the trigger in a safe direction, pull the slide back slightly, and finally depress the slide lock on both sides. Slide the original slide off, place the new slide on, and ensure it clicks securely into place. As always, follow safety guidelines and consult the manual if unsure.
